The Knee Anatomy

Approved for CEUs with ACE (0.6), AFAA (6.0), and NASM (0.6)

Learn the anatomy of the knee and how it relates to balance, posture, and chronic issues using a practical and fun approach.

This course was created for the health and fitness professional working with clients of all ages and fitness levels who is searching for a practical resource for learning the functional anatomy of the knee. More importantly, the health and fitness professional will be able to incorporate the practical lessons directly into their client’s training programs to improve posture, movement, and performance.

The webinar series provides a detailed anatomical review of the muscles and bony landmarks of the knee. Using creative visuals, the functional anatomy, biomechanics and motor control of the knee muscles are explained. This unique approach also provides real-world strategies for addressing the most common causes of chronic tightness, discomfort, and compensated posture and movement patterns associated with the suboptimal function of the knee.

In this course, users will receive assessment techniques and exercise strategies and progressions related to the knee complex. S/he will discover practical information that can be immediately applied within their programs to address client’s chronic knee-driven posture and movement issues.

Developing and maintaining optimal knee function is critical to posture, standing, balancing, walking, running, and essentially most activities of daily living.  The key is knowing which strategies are appropriate for your client’s specific needs.  Understanding and applying key assessments and the most appropriate corrective exercise techniques that will be discussed in this series will have a dramatically positive impact on how clients feel and move their body.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the origin, insertion, and action of the primary muscles of the knee.
  • Discuss the impact of posture and movement on the knee.
  • Introduce corrective exercises and progressions to your clients to address common knee issues including osteoarthritis, jumper’s knee, and iliotibial band syndrome.
  • Gain an introduction to the Integrative Movement SystemTM and discover how to best assess the knee, utilize the most appropriate corrective exercise strategies, and then integrate into functional movement & exercise patterns.
  • Create both short and long-term improvement in knee strength using simple, yet effective corrective exercises
  • Apply safe strengthening strategies to help your clients successfully accomplish their health and fitness goals.
